After returning to art college in 2007 Elaine qualified as a Fine Artist. During her course she took a special interest in installation work using controversial areas of life as her inspiration. She questioned the position of women in society with special regard to religion and created a very thought-provoking piece on the taboo subject ‘end-of-life’ . It was called Way Out.
In the early nineties Elaine qualified with distinction as a Garden Designer. For 10 years she ran a successful Garden Design practice gaining medals for her show gardens.
She ran residential courses helping clients from all over the world to design their own garden.
More recently she has achieved a Foundation degree in Photography and an HNC in Fine Art both with Distinction.
Elaine’s first career was as a teacher ending as a Primary School Acting Head after 30 years. During that period she produced spectacular school musicals, building scenery and designing costumes herself. She ran courses for parents, governors and teachers and added an MA to her qualifications.
Elaine is a great-grandmother, a member of MENSA and enjoys photography, rock-climbing, walking, badminton and creative cookery. With husband , Phil, she has travelled extensively, trekked in the High Himalayas and walked in mountains around the world.
She is an active member of the Settle Photographic Group.
She is an enthusiastic property developer and project managed the construction of their current home.
